What made you decide to enroll at the University of Maryland?
I chose to go to thee University of Maryland because it is close to home and being with my family during this experience is very important to me. Also I love all the opportunities that UMD has to offer. The school also has great financial aid opportunities that has greatly benefited me and my family financially.
What major/career path do you plan on pursuing and how did you select that path?
I plan on majoring in business management because the business world recently has been an interest of mine. I selected this path because at my old job was not the best and I did not enjoy going to work because of the structure of the business and how the workers were treated. I hope that through my studies I can help other businesses be able to properly function and make sure every person who works for that business does not share the same experience that I had.
Activities I do outside of class or community service/volunteer activities I'm involved with:
Outside of school I love to go to church and give back to my church community. I help teach and take care of the kids, and I lead service at times. I also help with events and anything else that I'm asked to do.
Which programs are you enrolled in, and what have you gained from your experience in them thus far?
Within the Maryland Promise Program, I hope to earn connections and experiences that I will need to succeed in the future. It has also already provided me the relief of not having to worry about how to pay for college.
Aside from academics, what else do you hope to take away from your time at Maryland?
I hope to make new friends and connect with so many more people. I hope that I can make connections with others for the things that I want to do in the future. I hope that I will gain more independence through my experience here.
What are your future goals after graduation?
My goals for after graduation are still unclear but I know that eventually I would like to start a non-profit for students who struggle with paying for college and give back to the community that gave so much to me.
