The Scholars within the Maryland Promise Program participate in several opportunities to enhance both their academic and leadership acumen, while encouraging them to also give back to their community.

What is Conclave Preparing our MPP Scholars for?

The goal of the Conclave 2-year experience is to teach students about the elements of leadership, provide them with tools to maximize their skills, and empower them to become socially-responsible leaders. Conclave will prepare scholars to complete the following:

  • Interact with high-level donors (most notably Clark Foundation, the largest donor in the history of the University of Maryland)
  • Deliver presentations about their personal and programmatic experiences (e.g. share personal stories to large influential audiences)
  • Interact regularly with high-level university officials
  • Plan and participate in programming events
  • Serve as peer mentors for other MPP Scholars
  • Plan and participate in community service events within the greater College Park, MD area
  • Learn to share about their personal experiences with people in the community in accessible way
