About
What made you decide to enroll at the University of Maryland?
I wanted to be close yet far enough away from home, and Maryland is the sweet spot that I found. I was also drawn to the well-known engineering department and facilities.
What major/career path do you plan on pursuing and how did you select that path?
I am planning on pursuing mechanical engineering. During my senior year in high school I took a mechanics class and I absolutely loved it. In school if something didn't challenge me I would find myself to be bored and wouldn't pay attention at all. But with mechanics and how closely it relates to mechanical engineering I found that I wanted to pursue that major.
Activities I do outside of class or community service/volunteer activities I'm involved with:
Before graduating high school, I volunteered as the head offensive/defensive line coach for a recreational football team, the Baltimore Bearcats, where I had played for over 5 years. I also work as a crew member at Five Guys and have been working there for about 2 years. Besides these activities, I am a devoted big brother and help my siblings with any homework or projects that they may have.
Aside from academics, what else do you hope to take away from your time at Maryland?
I hope to take away an experience worth remembering. I hope to take away friends that I can call family and also network to be better prepared for my future career.
What are your future goals after graduation?
I would hope to first gain experience through internships at different companies. Then with the experience I gain I would like to either take a managing or leadership position at a company to prepare for having my own company. When I graduate, I would ultimately like to be a mechanical/automotive engineer with my own car manufacturing company.
