Michelle Hunt

Marketing / Rockville, MD

What made you decide to enroll at the University of Maryland?
I decided to enroll at the University of Maryland since the Robert H. Smith School of Business was one of my dream schools, and UMD is also very local to where I live. I also heard that it is an amazing school with endless opportunities to grow, learn, and network. All of this is very true!

What major/career path do you plan on pursuing and how did you select that path?
I am currently pursuing a degree in marketing within the business school. I chose this path because I love learning more about the people aspects of business, which is precisely what marketing is. Additionally I have always been business-savvy and will always enjoy learning more about the professional world within the U.S.

Activities I do outside of class or community service/volunteer activities I'm involved with:
Besides the Maryland Promise Program, I am also in the Southern Management Leadership Program, a three year scholarship program. Additionally, I am also interning at the Dingman Center of Entrepreneurship as a Venture Programs intern.

Aside from academics, what else do you hope to take away from your time at Maryland?
I hope to meet people with the same aspirations and mindset as me, which has already been partially accomplished! I have met many other lovely students and I'm sure during my last year here I will meet many more. I also hope to learn more about entrepreneurship and graduates of UMD who have successfully become entrepreneurs, such as Kevin Plank.

What are your future goals after graduation?
My goals after graduation are to gain several years of experience in the workplace, pursue my own business on the side, travel, and get my own place!
